Give em a Cheer!

After welcoming our 6 sensational new Good Gymers and the obligatory group photo and headcount we set off into the drizzly Sheffield evening air with STAR OF STAGE KIM as our trusty back marker towards our destination of the Abbeydale Picture House, passing some other task locations on the way in a short of a Good Gym Sheffield Task Tour. These included going past Regather Co-Op and the Highfield Adventure Playground.

TASK TIME

On arrival we were met with bottles of water and info on the nights task by SENSATIONAL STEVE from CADS who told us all about the project, CADS and things to look out for during the nights task.

We split into two teams:

TEAM LIFT & SHIFT - In a strong show of teamwork and bicep brawn this team moved a number of the old seats down stairs to their new home, increasing the capacity of the building and their guns along with it! CIRCUS STEVE impressed us showing his previous skills gained volunteering for a circus with his impressive chin chair balancing skills! Incredible!

TEAM SCRAPE & SHAPE - Team SAS did a fantastic job of removing nails and scraping remaining underlay from years gone by to prep the floor ready for it's new topping to make some of the 1st level rooms usable once more!

The venue is really starting to come on with the backroom where we started now being used as a gallery space. When we first came it was full of junk and scaffolding. Steve was thanking the team and saying that this would not have been possible without the help of the people from Good Gym Sheffield - Pat on the back to you all!

Before going into the fitness session for the eve we heard about the fantastic Small Park, Big Run which you can sign up for here being organised by professional crowbar user DEMOLITION JAWAD. The event is taking place 10-11June and is up as a Good Gym Race here so make sure you spread the word and sign up on BOTH LINKS ABOVE so we can get a team together for the event in Meersbrook Park!

Let's HIIT it!

Our fitness session this week was short and sharp with some really great efforts from all, with loads of squat variations, jumps, tucks, inch worms and planks! Great job everyone!

There is a mission this weekend for those who are mission verified - Help Mr B in the Garden - sign up here

Don't forget to sign up for next weeks run which is a brand new task to help SUSTRANS keep the National Cycling Network accessible to all. Sign up here

We're in the press!

There a lovely online story and a double page spread in this weeks Sheffield Telgraph (pick up a copy before thurs) - are you in it? You can help spread the word and help us grow too by telling people the good you are doing and bringing along a friend to next weeks run!

See you then, happy Running!

Tom :)
