On this surprisingly warm March evening (once you got jogging at least), six Goodgym runners met and ran a few kilometres to help Rumney Seedlings at Rumney Community Gardens. It was a return trip for many of the group, and, having briefly admired their previous handiwork for the first time in the daylight, they received a warm welcome from Mark.

There was a range of tasks available for the group this evening:

  • Nathan, after a trip to make himself a coffee, took on the planting of primroses and a holly bush.

  • Birds could be heard tweeting with joy at the sight of fresh new digs, as Mikey and Alice installed some new bird boxes.

  • Lucy, anticipating a painting task had worn her scrappy run gear and took on the classic Rumney Seedlings task of painting planters.

  • Finally Fiona and Aimee had “the toughest workout they’d ever had on a GG run” by shovelling topsoil and grass out of some new flower beds.

As the night drew in, the runners work was done. Mikey, Alice and Nathan ran back to central Cardiff, while Aimee, Lucy and Fiona jumped in the car, resting their legs ready for the Monsal Trail (GG Big 6).
