Report From Alex

A glorious turnout of 20 Goodgymmers, including some welcome new faces (Welcome to Amanda, Sarina, Nancy, Chad, Laurie)

A glorious turnout of 20 Goodgymmers, including some welcome new faces, descended on Tower Hamlets on this crisp February evening, brimming with an admirable level of energy following a hard Monday's work. But it wouldn't be the local borough we'd be gracing tonight as the neighbouring Newham where the Hackney Wick Community Gardens were in need of a sprucing.

After a solid 3km run through Victoria Park and around to the Wick, we were greeted by the garden volunteers, four wheelie bins and a plethora of brooms which four groups seized and set off to sweep and dispatch the leaves lining the residential areas around the garden.

After the remainder of the group heroically carried out the digging task, the group reconvened for some celebratory orange segments and biscuits to toast a job well done. As the fire crackled away on the bank of the canal, we set off on our path back to the realm of Tower Hamlets.

Another 3.5km clocked, a successful good deed done and, for those who rolled on to the pub, a cheeky tipple enjoyed. Well done all!

And don't forget to sign up for next week where we need loads of you do help Tower Hamlets Cemetery park!
