Four GoodGymers visited Jesmond Community Orchard on a very pleasant Sunday. The tasks ranged from weeding around the base of trees and watering a new hedge to digging out three well-entrenched fence posts.
This was GoodGym Newcastle's first visit to the orchard for almost six years. We certainly won't be waiting as long before returning!

Two goodgymers helped whitley bay junior parkrun on a sunny Sunday morning. I was tailwalker and Richard was a marshal. Nearly 200 young runner completed the parkrun! It's always lonely to see the young runners enjoying themselves!

It's been Ages since GoodGym Newcastle helped out at Age UK Gateshead. Last time we were painting inside and it was lovely to see the main space looking beautiful with lots of happy looking service users there. Today though we were outdoors, weeding.
A big welcome to Emma who joined in to earn her first GoodGym credit. Double kudos to Emma for coming along straight from a job interview - we hope you get the job Emma and that your lovely smart interview outfit didn't get too muddy!
It was a simple task from task owner Ryan - clear the weeds away to allow for future planting. There is a big area at the front and an even bigger area at the back. The three of us worked solidly for two hours and hopefully you can see the difference we made. However, Ryan has big plans for the gardens so it's going to take an Age and I reckon weed have to go back again!
Check out Monday's group run if you'd like to get in on the act!

Two GoodGymers continued GoodGym Newcastle's self promotion drive in Heaton tonight. Last week's leafleting session yielded some new sign ups and social media followers, so we headed back out to the same area to try to spread the word a bit more.

The rain held off this morning for a sunny session of leaflet delivering. Today, we were delivering leaflets for FoodCycle Monkchester that are offering the community a free meal in Byker every week!
At the meeting point our eye was drawn by a poster outside Harbottle park advertising their volunteering sessions with a picture of Miranda, Paul and Aimee from a previous mission! See the picture above - everyone in Byker has!
Liz achieved her 46th good deed today! We will be seeing her in her black shirt very soon!
We delivered a few hundred leaflets in half an hour and called it a day. We met a few people a long the way who already knew about FoodCycle and even a lady who had delivered the same leaflets we had!
Three more good deed added to the GoodGym Newcastle total which puts us on 1903 in total. 1903 was the year Orville Wright flew an aircraft in the first documented, successful, controlled, powered, heavier-than-air flight. But, more importantly, we're about to hit 2000!
Big Love
