All of our tasks are fun, but this one really felt like we were having a clear and direct impact on those in need, and whilst packing the bags we could literally imagine a child opening their bag on Christmas Day.

Hackney Marshes parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning taking place (as the name suggests) around the Hackney Marshes football pitches, with the start at the East Marsh and an out and back along the North Marsh.
Everyone is welcome to walk, jog, run, or, in this case, volunteer.
This is always a well attended parkrun, and parkrun relies entirely on volunteers for it to go ahead each week, so it would be great to have as many red shirted GoodGym volunteers as we can muster to fill the volunteer spaces for this Saturday 10th January and cheers the runners/walkers on.
There are plenty of options to choose from including marshals, barcode scanners, finish tokens and tail walkers - and absolutely no prior experience is required as there will always be a friendly volunteer on hand to explain what to do on the day.
You can take a look at the roster to see what roles are available here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/hackneymarshes/futureroster/
If you want to do a specific role, email hackneymarshes@parkrun.com to confirm which volunteering role you'd like to do on the day.
If you're not yet registered with a parkrun id/barcode you can do that here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/
After this session, we will be running to Maryland (the one near Stratford...approx 2 miles/3.2 km) to help CleanGreen prepare two large planters for spring planting at 1100-1230 - a listing for this task will appear here shortly once confirmed with the task owner.

GoodGym is a community of people that get fit by doing good. We run, walk and cycle to do practical tasks for community organisations and isolated older people.
