Empowering my passions for a circular good while being active sustainably!
For the 2026 Brighton Marathon weekend (taking place on April 11-12, 2026), a few dedicated "Green Teams" , organised by The Green Runners + Leave No Trace Brighton, will actively "plog" (jog and pick up litter) along the 42-km route. This initiative aims to remove dropped gel sachets, cups, and other waste, following a successful 5K community plogging event held in February 2026 to promote sustainability.
On Marathon's day 12th April, GoodGymers will take part as the "Brighton Plogging Team 2" to run, walk and litter pick alongside the marathons' runners. We will cover 10 Km starting at 12:15 pm until 14:15 ish pm from Drinking Station 4 in North side of Marine Parade j/w Grafton Street (https://what3words.com/wake.laws.league) to Drinking Station 5 in North Side of Madeira Drive in line with Atlingworth Street (https://what3words.com/deep.topped.worm).
We will run, walk and litter pick for 10K in a relay with other green runners on the marathon route from km 11.3 to km 24.1 while doing a green community mission - litter picking!
Each GG runner will have a litter picker, a pair of gloves, a hessian bag and a green hi vis vest with the strapline "Plogging Team". We’ll be swapping all kit and hi vis vests at the handover with Team 3. The plan is to pick up all litter along the route at a steady pace approx 30 minutes ahead of the back pace car. The actual pace will be approx 7:30 - 8:30 km pace.

This is a GoodGym community mission. When we're doing a community mission we make our own way to the task, so you can choose to walk, run, or cycle. Thinking of cycling - check out our FAQs
GoodGym is a community of people that get fit by doing good. We run, walk and cycle to do practical tasks for community organisations and isolated older people.
