GoodGym is a wonderful initiative. It combines three of the most powerful ways of uplifting your own wellbeing โ exercising, socialising, and, above all, doing good for others

All of our tasks are fun, but this one really felt like we were having a clear and direct impact on those in need, and whilst packing the bags we could literally imagine a child opening their bag on Christmas Day.

Hiya I'm the Area Activator for Ipswich! I'm a keen runner of all distances, from 5k to marathon. Love running at different parkrun venues.
You're invited. Come along and join us at Ipswich GoodGym!
Want to do something useful with your exercise? GoodGym is no ordinary gym. We're a group of people who get fit by doing good - helping out local charities and community groups with physical jobs like shifting compost and planting trees.
What are we doing? We will be heading to the 31st/9th Scout Group (567 Foxhall Road, IP3 8LX) where we'll be grabbing the paintbrush to give the inside hall a fresh lick of paint ๐จ
What distance? The run itself will be roughly 1.4 miles (2.3km) to the hut and the same back - totalling roughly 2.8 miles (4.5km). Everyone is welcome at any pace and any ability, the run will be back-marked so no one is ever left behind ๐
Where are we meeting? We will meet at the University of Suffolk, Waterfront building at 6.45pm - in the foyer as you come through the doors, you won't miss us! There is access to toilets here too ๐ If you would like to meet at the task instead, then please meet us at the scout hut (address above) at roughly 7.10pm.
Please wear high vis / head or body torches as it will be dark and we want to be seen!
Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.
This is a GoodGym group run. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run to the task together. If you can't run for more than 15 minutes without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Natasha by email at natasha@goodgym.org.
The total distance of this group run is 5km.
Remember that we will be running to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.

GoodGym is a community of people that get fit by doing good. We run, walk and cycle to do practical tasks for community organisations and isolated older people.
