We'll set off at 1830 on a leisurely, social run, along Plaistow Road and Manor Road to the facility - there'll be a back marker, so no-one gets left behind! There is a bag drop, toilets are available, and you’ll be brought back to the start afterwards.
We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle
During the dark days of Covid, we did a lot of work to support the Crisis team by helping them build their facility to support their Christmas campaign, and then once the turkey had been eaten and the gifts given, we helped them pack it all away again - and then we helped them move into their new warehouse...GoodGym and Crisis go back quite a long way.
We've been contacted by the head of their Retail operation in London who's looking for regular assistance on three specific tasks (initially) to help him make his operation of receiving and distributing clothing donations to the Crisis retail shops around London, more efficient.
The tasks will involve doing a stock take of items in the warehouse (sorted by individual shop location), sorting/organising of existing stock (already bagged) to help their delivery drivers find what they need more efficiently, and sorting of clothes they buy in from other outlets in preparation for distribution to their retail outlets. Just our kind of tasks.
The task will be inside in their (newish) warehouse located on Bidder St (near Cody Dock), just down from Star Lane DLR, between West Ham and Canning Town - tea and coffee is also provided!
We'll meet at Freaks and Geeks at 1830 for a run to the facility, or alternatively you can meet us there at 7pm where Chris, our host, is looking forward to our assistance.
Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.
This is a GoodGym community mission. There is an option to meet other GoodGymers and run to the task. Thinking of cycling - check out our FAQs
This session is organised by your Taskforce, a group of experienced GoodGym members in your area. They are not responsible for your safety. You should feel confident to participate in the session as it is described and you do so at your own risk.
