For this session we're going to meet at the task, so you'll need to make your own way there. We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle to do so!
Get fit and help Roehampton create something beautiful! The impact on the community would be significant as your help would enable a level and accessible growing area where planters can be installed. This in turn means increased food production for the local community.
We will be clearing some ground and make it level in order to build a planter on it. The area to be cleared is roughly 3 m x 3 m. We'll be meeting the group there - come and get fit whilst having a positive impact!
The Community Garden is dedicated to growing and providing free, fresh food for local residents and food charities. Located on one of the largest council estates in the UK, the area experiences significant levels of poverty and deprivation. Through the project, we aim to increase access to healthy, nutritious food while supporting individuals and families to gain greater food sovereignty. By involving residents in growing food, developing gardening skills, and building knowledge around sustainable food production, we seek to empower the community to have more control over how food is accessed, grown, and shared. The garden also serves as a space for community connection, learning, and wellbeing, helping to strengthen resilience and reduce food insecurity across the local area.
