The Community Garden is dedicated to growing and providing free, fresh food for local residents and food charities. Located on one of the largest council estates in the UK, the area experiences significant levels of poverty and deprivation. Through the project, we aim to increase access to healthy, nutritious food while supporting individuals and families to gain greater food sovereignty. By involving residents in growing food, developing gardening skills, and building knowledge around sustainable food production, we seek to empower the community to have more control over how food is accessed, grown, and shared. The garden also serves as a space for community connection, learning, and wellbeing, helping to strengthen resilience and reduce food insecurity across the local area.
