Let's Lift the Curfew 2026: join us for a special session
Tonight we're joining forces with This Girl Can and their Let's Lift the Curfew campaign.
When the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, millions of women across the UK will once again see their world get smaller as the nights get darker.
Safety concerns affect where they go, when they go, who they go with and whether they can be active outdoors at all.
Whether shaped by past experiences, stories they've heard, or not feeling comfortable or confident in a particular place after dark, many women are unable to be active outdoors or use public spaces in the same way that men do.
In fact, nearly three-quarters (72%) of women in the UK change their outdoor activity routines during winter. Let's Lift the Curfew challenges this reality to ensure no woman has to change where, when or how she gets active because of safety concerns.
You can read about, and complete, GoodGym's own training on this issue here.
Tonight's Task
This is an exciting new task. We will be helping out at the the East Birmingham Community Forum, next to Summerfield Park.
The main task will be a furniture sort and tidy-up at Summerfield Community Centre. They've got a number of items that need sorting, moving and organising so we they can make better use of the space and get everything stored where it needs to be.
Plenty of hands needed to help us get through it!
We’ll also have pizza again for everyone as a thank you for helping out.
For those who'd like to do a run we'll be meeting at the Good Intent at 6pm and running around 3k to the venue, before running back fuelled with pizza! If you'd like to meet at the task the postcode is B18 4EJ, please arrive for 6.30pm.
Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.
This is a GoodGym group run, with the option of walking too. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run or walk to the task together. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Jonny Carter by email at jonny@goodgym.org.
Options are available to run between 6km and 7km in total.
Remember that we will be running or walking to and from the task, so you'll only be running or walking for half this distance in one go.

The task owner’s dog is very ill and needs an operation, therefore he needs to be at home for his dog.
