Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bristol runner
The weather was kind to us this morning and the persistent rain of the past few weeks (months!) has soften the ground to make our task of removing the final strips of turf much easier. This will enable a wildflower meadow to be sown on the grounds of the Southmead Hospital allotment, to create an even more welcoming and relaxing space for hospital staff, patients and visitors.
It was great to welcome Tik along for their first session, obviously keen for an additional workout after a morning bootcamp, whereas Andy , Melanie and Jason had headed up to the task after the usual Saturday morning parkrun.
Myself and Richard had a more leisurely start to the morning, naturally saving ourselves to give the task our all!
Once we had cleared the turf from the wildflower meadow space, we then set about weeding and clearing any loose strands of grass, leaving a bit to do next month before the seeds are sown.
It's looking good for March!
Provide a beautiful wildflower area for the Southmead Hospital and the local community
