It was another day of snowfall in tower hamlets that set the scene for another Goodgym visit to Bethnal Green food bank.

This time, the tasks were to meet the deliveries, sort supplies into crates, transport them up the twisty staircase of St Matthews Church and find a space among the supremely well organised foodbank shelving, housing stock that is so needed by many in the local community.

Once done, an assembly line was, ahem, assembled, to pack the bags of pasta, tins, juice and cereal to be distributed tomorrow.

A real privilege to spend a long lunchtime with such a cheerful, committed and inspiring group of people!

St Matthew’s became the host of the new Bethnal Green Food Bank in January 2020, a ‘sister project’ of the Bow Food Bank located in St Mary’s, Bow Church.

"We believe abundance and not scarcity, we believe in being good stewards and sharing this abundance and we believe in Bethnal Green."

Great report, Becky. And well done both of you for heading to this CM on possibly THE coldest day yet.
