On a brisk Sunday morning we set off to meet at the Millennium Arena in Battersea Park at the ungodly hour of 9 o'clock to go and help marshal the Wandsworth trials for the London Marathon mini marathon entry and the 5km around Battersea park. Having got our high vis on and our yellow signs we were dropped off at strategic points around the park to provide encouragement to the young runners, warn the pedestrians, dog walkers and cyclists to watch out for the runners.

We all supported and cheered the three races that were happening that day U13-U17 girls 5km race, U13-U17 boys 5km race and finally the eleven and under 2K fun run. Having watched the final finishers cross the line and handed out all the medals, our good deed was completed for the day.

Kindly for our help they let us have use of the track for an hour after the event, which some of the marshals took up the opportunity to do a little bit of speed work. Other just looked on thinking if only I wasn't feeling so fragile I should really be doing that as well.
