David and Sam met Simon and Ruth at Thorlands Gardens for a different type of session from the past few months. We brought over tools to the woodchip depo area to dig out trees as Simon informed us that this depo will be completely cleared in June and he wanted to save a few plants.

We started with an "easy" Cherry tree taking back the weeds, gravelly stone layer before cutting through a mesh. As we dug, we realised it will be difficult due to the clay in the ground. Still we managed to get the Cherry tree out and concentrated our next effort on a thorny Rose tree.

We did the same process, but we had to take off a few branches and thorns as it was a big tree. We started to dig, but realised the roots were too big to tackle with the tools we brought over and that the session was coming to an end. We called it a day, knowing that next time we will be back to collect the rose tree.
