A simple task overall, helping to prepare a wildflower bed for the spreading of seeds which will (hopefully) end up offering a splash of colour to the local park.

We all put our best rake forward, scouring the ground to allow it to be a better home for the seeds to be laid to sprout in. Special dedication from Beth, who ended up getting a blister as a battle scar of her efforts!

Unfortunately, it being that time of year many of us drew the attention of the critters and crawlers who enjoy the undergrowth; leading to a few smarting red welts on our exposed legs!

Gardening - Preparing ground for renewal of Wildflower Meadow, weeding

FOWP plant flowers and plants in our local park to encourage biodiversity and give pleasure to local residents. We organise planting/weeding sessions and also run bird walks, small events and other community activities to encourage an understanding of nature. GoodGym have helped us before (requested by Vanessa Hampton) but I cannot find the details on this site. FOWP created a very successful wild flower meadow in 2018 but this now needs extensive preparation for some Autumn planting then further planting next Spring.
