With thanks to our wonderful task owner Alex for the report title.....

This morning's farm crew gathered bright and early to the sound of the farm's roosters and geese, and after a quick briefing by Alex were ready to hit the ground rolling. 'Rolling' being the operative word, as the initial task was to clear the way, by removing rubble, raking and leveling a path, for a large plastic undersheet to be rolled into place. This was to form the base of an area designed to catch and channel rain water into the new wildlife pond.

With a deep breath, four of us bowled the rolled up sheeting around the perimeter of the pond (thanks to Heather for the video footage!), and stretched it out over the prepared ground.

Next task - filling in the trench around the sheeting with earth. We shovelled away with just a quick break for water until our time was up and we were ready to pass onto the afternoon crew.

Definitely a great leg and upper body work out in one, with the bonus of a trip to the farmers' market for some of us afterwards. Great to see the farm bustling again and to be able to help out in the creation what sounds like a lovely area that will benefit the community here in Stepney.
