Tonight we headed out to help a charity that we haven't helped before! BSARCS is Barnsley's on charity offering specialist services to people whose lives have been affected by rape, sexual abuse, assault and violence. They recently acquired a new premises which was in serious need of a tidy up and fresh coat of paint before the grand opening at the end of the month.

The run to the charity has to be one of the shortest we have done, which meant we had lots of time to focus on painting! Armed with brushes galore, rollers and paint, the group split up across three rooms and got to work! Tonight we were joined by the lovely Kim & James from Sheffield, as well as the fabulous Clair, Sharon and Mairead from tarn!

The paint colour that we were using was called Moody mocha, and it was to be used in most of the rooms. There was a variety of different painting tasks to be completed and as usual, James' height came in very handy in the room that needed finishing in the edges by the ceiling! James even fashioned his own unique tool, by sticking a paintbrush into the long handle for the rollers and taping it to secure - see pictures!

Kim and Clair focussed on second coating the middle room and Mairead and Sharon worked well together with the more difficult task of doing the edges by the ceiling, requiring a ladder to reach as we're not all as tall as James! By the end of the hour, we were all squeezed into one room, making the finishing touches! Having pretty much finished 3 rooms and bagged our GG 35 photo, we said our goodbyes and headed back to base!

On route back, there was just enough time to squeeze in some cheeky bench dips, press ups, partner squat/high knees and an obligatory synchronised team jumping jack boomerang in front of Barnsley's most famous monument!

Thanks to everyone as always for all your hard work, smiles and determination! All being well, we'll be back at BSARCS next week to help them finish off the painting! Sign up here
