This week the weather wasn’t on our side for GoodGym x Brompton but a couple of hardly individuals from the team still came out to make good things happen and get a taste of what GoodGym is all about!

We headed along the canal to Horsenden Farm where the volunteer team we were meeting were grateful of any help we could offer on such a grey and wet day!

Horsenden Farm is a community space and The Friends of Horsenden Hill are a dedicated team of volunteers that work there to help make the space accessible and the best it can be for everyone to enjoy.

Mice to see you, to see you mice!

Today they had a couple of tasks for us to help with the first of which was for those afraid of small rodents! The farm is currently taking part in a breeding programme for Harvest Mice which if you didn’t know are currently endangered in the UK. They have a lovely little home at the farm but it needed a bit of sealing so we helped stuff all the nooks and crannies with wire wool to keep other pests out and keep the mice thriving!

Tree’s company!

The second task was helping sort and plant lots of donated tree saplings all of which go on to be used in and around lots of Ealing’s green spaces! They start there life here at the farm and then get planted out where they are needed! So cool to know that the trees we worked on today may be bigger trees we later see in other parks around the borough!

Today showed that even with just a couple of people you really can make a big difference in your local community - and with the cycle there and back you can do it all while getting outside and active too!

The little Brompton team really smashed it!
