Emily and myself went to the Quaker Centre to help tidy up a couple of flower beds that looked a bit dry and overgrown. Emily got straight in with the loppers hacking back the dead bushes and plants that had dried out in the hot summer weather. We definitely need more rain! I grabbed the broom and swept up along the path and pulled out the dead leaves that needed to go in the compost.

Virginia then joined up and went up the ladder to get rid of the dead branches that were coming through a shared fence. She has a strong head for heights!

Soon the hour was up and the garden was much improved. Great task and a different way to make the bed in the morning.

Quakers share a way of life rather than a set of beliefs

KQC is a Quaker Meeting House and a much-loved and well used Community Centre in the heart of Kingston. Quakers try to live simply and sustainably, promoting peace, equality and truth. Putting faith into action is central to our way of life and we meet weekly for quiet worship, usually on Sunday, in more than 475 locations across Britain. Quakers have worshipped in Kingston for more than 350 years.
