Report written by Simon Fitzmaurice
Every Thursday evening, a keen crew of guides and VI runners meet up at Green Park Underground Station for a social group run (established by the awesome team at Achilles International). This week was no exception, and we had a smashing turn out from Goodgymmers based all across London.
Welcome to Rachel and Gillian, who were trying guide running for the first time (and congratulations on 50 good deeds, Gillian!). 5 VI runners were present tonight (Naqi, Tom, Chris, Andrew and Richard), so we had plenty of runners on hand to guide our classic 1.2 mile Green Park loop. Lucy and Area Activator Simon were also on hand to snap photos of our running crew, to look after bags and to cheer our runners with Siri (Chris' daughter).
Wonderful running on a late Summer evening- all different speeds, paces and distances. Unfortunately, we did experience an unexpected incident during the session, where Tom struck his knee against a park bench. A bit of a shock mostly, but the team really came together to make sure he was alright. A trip to A & E was needed (Rachel really stepped up tonight), and Tom was fixed up with a couple of stitches.
I was really impressed with how our Achilles International and Goodgym family responded to an unpleasant happening. We will back same time, same place, next week.
