Some times a catchy pun does not come easily!
So often we see our parks, urban paths and streets have a huge increase in litter on sunny days. Why? You tell me...people go buy food, enjoy eating it on the sunny lawns of Castle Park and then I am not sure what the thought process is? Leaving the park and leaving the litter.
Although today we did not litter pick inside the gates of Castle Park, we followed the river along a popular path between the city centre and Hythe. These paths are were we find new litter and things that have been in the verges for decades...Bob found some rusty pliers, we found a bag full of orange peel, someone's M&S sausage roll a d Costa coffee as well as the usual Mars bar wrappers, beer cans and bottles and (not so) Smart water!
We did have a good chat on this task and managed some good fitness as we pushed ourselves up the length of East Hill and did some triceps dips, press ups and planking outside Firstsite!
Looking forwards to the Mayor's Festival of Diversity this weekend...
Well done and look after those runners niggles.
Litter blights our streets, parks and beaches and costs us millions of pounds to clear up every year. Keep Britain Tidy is here to inspire people to eliminate litter now and for future generations. This is about more than simply getting people to pick up litter. We aim to change behaviour permanently by spotlighting the problem daily and offering creative solutions. We work with people, businesses, local authorities and government to educate, innovate and inspire - improving the environment on everyone’s doorstep.
