Eight runners ran 6.5km to help the Canal & River Trust

For our January bonus run we headed back to Belgrave Lock to carry on with our sleeper staining project that we last attended in October with the daylight hours reducing fast. However, today's morning meet allowed us to head back for another stint before the night's get light enough for us again in March.

We welcomed Anita and Katie along to their first GoodGym good deed, give them a cheer! Both put in a great effort both on the run and getting stuck into the task and getting to know the rest of the gang! Well done - we'll hopefully see you both again soon! We were also delighted to welcome Elena back who ran with us to Harrison Road Methodist Church during the summer but has been busy on her university placements since then.

We enjoyed a pleasant off road run all the way along the water from DMU to meet Richard from CRT near Belgrave Lock in lovely mild conditions. Having been briefed and got our life jackets on we quickly split into three teams covering clearing vegetation and litter around the sleepers, wiping down the sleepers and stainers coming through behind. One by one we added to the staining squad and we soon motoring along the wooden sleepers making progress in our quest to get back to Abbey Park...hopefully we'll get there in 2020!

It was wonderful to have a great mix of regular and new runners and seeing everyone happily chatting away as we worked. The very essence of GoodGym and great to have a daylight task in January. Time for some weekend community missions I think!

On Tuesday we're running to help LOROS as we commence our tasks delivering their 2020 event booklets to businesses around the city to promote their fundraising events this year. Sign up here.

Thanks all, happy running!
