Gwyn and Tracey cycled to the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation to spend time with our mates enjoying the autumn anagrams, puzzles and plant dissection.
Lucy, the organiser, had put together her hardest quiz yet, covering record-breaking hailstones, the oldest living world conker champion, swifts on the wing for 10 months at a time, and the optimum time to dry your barley.
After tea, biscuits and chatting, we played a seated game of cricket, where people took turns to score "runs" by batting a beachball around the room, and trying to avoid being caught out.
Once all the guests had left, we helped to pack everything away and move it all down three flights of stairs, full of smiles at all the fun we'd had.
We snuck in an extra fitness session on the way home, breaking our ride in Alvaston park to do a Freedom parkrun along their 5k course.
