Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Hilary (she/her)
Me and Anne met up this morning to lend Mr C a hand is his flat. The aim was to swap round a sofa and a bed so that he can live on one floor, and reduce his need to use the stairs. A classic Goodgym task and all sounded very simple until we saw the size of the sofa relative to the site of the living room door... Apparently the sofa was originally assembled in the flat, so made perfect sense to think it could be taken apart again, but unfortunately whoever put it together was expecting it to stay put! Having explored the inside of the sofa, we concluded it was beyond our de- and re-construction abilities so thought about alternative options.
With the help of one of Mr C's kind neighbours who'd come round to lend a hand, we decided that the priority should be to get the bed downstairs and to stack the offending sofa on top of the other one in the room. Upstairs, we were grateful that the bed base split in half and was very light, so at least had no trouble there and managed to squeeze an armchair out of the living room. This gave Mr C plenty of space to get around the bed in his new look living room.

Well done, Anne and Hilary! Looks like you did some good improvising.
