This night we ran out to what's becoming a familiar spot for one last job: clearing up fallen and broken branches in a giant hedge of beech trees.
With a lot of shuttling dead branches back to the pile for collection and quite a bit of sawing up large ones, we made quick work of it and did a quick litter pick among the leaves while we were there too!
Wednesday 25th January
Tadiwa Mahachi been cheered 10 times.
GoodGymers have noticed what Tadiwa has done and have cheered her 10 times. We doff our caps to you Tadiwa.

Six runners joined this task to tame a trailing willow tree that was growing out of bounds.
First was a 3km run out of town and along the A6 cycle path to reach our task. Then on arrival we armed ourselves with handy folding pruning saws and set to work.
After 30 mins the old spreading willow tree was reined in a bit, all the cuttings piled up by the roadside and all the freshly exposed litter collected up to leave the place nice and tidy.
All that remained was the run back into town, helped along by some sprint intervals along the way.

The temperature dipped below zero as we started our run, but with a hilly start we managed to keep warm using muscle power!
We were setting off on a circuit of some of Luton's parks, updating the noticeboards by removing outdated posters and adding new information and a shiny GoodGym poster!
At the top of the hill we hit Memorial Park first, and set to work there cleaning out the old notices while the crack team of Duncan Sam and Lizzy went off on an excursion to nearly Kidney Wood.
Reuniting in Stockwood Park we got a quick photo with an owl 🦉, sorted out the next noticeboard and then pressed on back down Farley Hill and into Brantwood Park. Two noticeboards here and a stop for an out-and-back sprint session and some tricep dips.
The final leg took us back through the town centre to Manor Park, three noticeboards there and we were done, short hop back to the University for quick stretches and goodbyes before the hard frost got us!

This week we welcomed two new runners to the team, Abimbola and Tadiwa took their first steps in what will hopefully be a long GoodGym journey!
We also celebrated Ruthbecoming the latest member of the 50 task club, well done! 🎉
With our parcel force assembled we tackled the hill climb up to the LDS church where a festive wrap battle awaited us. We were tasked with wrapping up shoe boxes to make festive care packages for refugees and asylum seekers recently arrived in the local area and who don't have much at all to call their own.
With the boxes all wrapped, filled with essential supplies and labeled for men women or children, we got ourselves moving again with fun shuttle runs to steal chocolates from the opposing team, followed by a calming full body stretch out, and then the gently jog back down the hill.
Our newbies did superbly, so well done Abi and Tadiwa, we hope to see you again very soon!
That's a wrap!
