Elephant and Castle Report written by Charlotte Martin (She/her)
On a beautiful, mild Wednesday evening, we gathered at the Castle and headed down to meet Martin from Friends of Burgess Park and the heap of tools he had kindly arranged for us.
Armed with shiny new litter pickers and some very high tech trash bag holders, we split out in two intrepid groups - cleaning the park with some lovely support and thanks from locals. One team squeezed in a fleeting little break to see to the important business of testing out the very steep, shiny metal slide in the Chumleigh playground. (5/5, would recommend, very fast).
We saw lots of solo runners and had a chat about the important role for the Lift The Curfew campaign working to ensure women feel equally safe heading out for a jog in the winter evenings.
We brought the litter pickers back to base and jogged back up to the Castle.
See you next week pals!
