Last nights session was a fun and hard working session in the play area of Eastrop Park. Our primary focus being the clearing the main play area of tanbark and weeds. As you can see from a before photo this are was absolutely covered making it a lot less appealing and more likely for kids to get hurt.
Alongside this Samantha went back to our GoodGym roots and litter picked the whole space while Evelyn did an amazing job clearing the seating area of weeds.
As always we met at the Basingstoke Sports & Social Club at 6:15 before 5 of us walked to Eastrop Park with Yazid meeting us on the way.
When we arrived we met Sandra from Basingstoke & Deane Council who greeted us with all brand spanking new gardening equipment and more importantly fruit/water.
Congratulations to Madeline who got accepted for her new job!
Well done to Sammi for spotting the heron first and carrying two very heavy bin bags with me and Charli cheering her on.

Its always nice doing a Walk Together session, especially when the weather is good and going past some gorgeous areas! Just check out some of those pictures!
Was amazing having 8 people at the session with Yazid at their first session and getting to welcome Lindsay & Sammi back for their first sessions in a while.
When walking through Crabtree Plantation Charli, Yazid and myself may have got a little distracted by the playground, where we all managed to get ourselves tangled up.
Make sure to check out the other Rambler Run sessions in the area here https://www.bvaction.org.uk/wellbeingwalks

Last nights session at the Rucstall Community Centre was great, Evelyn, Tazmin & I met at the Social Club before walking to the Community Centre where Samantha & Charli met us.
The mission for the day was to clear the back patio of weeds, blackberrys and leaves to make it a usable space. We managed to smash this job in less than an hour making a huge difference to the space!
So on the way back we decided to do some litter picking through War Memorial Park, and then had a well earned dinner and drinks from the Basingstoke Sports & Social Club.

We had a lot of fun constructing two outdoor benches/storage boxes at the Brookvale Village Hall.
These benches had been donated back in November last year after sitting in a shed for 4 years due to being quite difficult to construct.
We learned the truth of this as the first bench took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to construct, this time was spent using brute force, working out the instructions made it impossible to complete and some slight arguing over which was was forwards.
But following the lead of Tazmin and Evelyn with Charli & myself happily doing what we were told we were eventually able to complete the first one.
Then as if to make up for this we constructed the second in record time, clocking in at just over 12 minutes from start to finish.
We also couldn't have done all of this without the help of Marian from the Brookvale Village Hall who helped the construction and made us very welcome!
All in all it was a lot of fun, very rewarding and we can't wait to be back again.

Tazmin once again did an amazing job leading this weeks GoodGym session!
With Evelyn & Samantha joining for the litter picking around Memorial Park.
It continues being great seeing that Basingstoke is pretty clean, and the park especially was in good condition with less rubbish found than last week.
