A squad of 9 enthusiastic GoodGymers ventured out tonight distributing leaflets for the christmas tree-cycling collection service. We welcomed back Rob - great to see you and catch up :)
We made our way over to the Cheylesmore area, meeting up with Chris and Claire along the way, navigating the streets using google maps and Dale - thank you! Together, in 50 minutes we covered 10 roads, delivering 504 leaflets with a distance of around 3 miles.
Well done everyone and great team effort from taskforce with leading a second team and guiding.
Shout out to Graeme who intended to come tonight but couldn't make it but is gonna deliver some leaflets tomorrow - nice one Graeme!

It takes a special kind of person to wake up early on a dark, damp and cold Saturday morning in November, but never the less, four GoodGymers arrived bright(ish) and early at Holbrooks Park to clear as much litter as possible before Parkrun. The rain was persistent and the ground wet and muddy. It didn't take long for our trainers to become saturated, although we had come prepared with multiple warm, waterproof layers.
Allan and James got to work with the pickers, while Chris and Claire collected the finds in bin bags. It's always fun to see what unusual litter you can find and amongst the finds were numerous fireworks, some quite quite sizeable! It would also appear that the drink of choice in the local area is Chekhov vodka, as we certainly found copious empty bottles of it. Not forgetting my personal bugbear... disposable vapes! (Grrrrrr...)
With as much litter picked as possible in the time available, we then made our way to the volunteer briefing where Chris and Claire donned blue 'Park Walker' bibs, James donned a pink bib over his existing hi-viz jacket (making him ultra-viz!), ready to barcode scan and Allan lined up on the start, ready to leg it round the course and pick up scanning and close down duties after finishing.
With Holbrooks Parkrun closed down for another week, James made his way to his next community mission while Allan, Chris and Claire had a much needed hot drink and breakfast at Food @ Whitehalls.
Holbrooks Parkrun have expressed their gratitude to GoodGym for their support with the events and always welcome volunteers. We'll be back there again in early December, but you can always help them out at any of their events. Check out www.parkrun.org.uk/holbrooks/futureroster/ to find upcoming volunteering opportunities.

It might not have been our night for quizzing, coming in 10th and 11th aka LAST, but it was still a fun night. At least they played the winning song a couple of times Ghastly Goodgymers!
Thanks to Laura and Nigel for operating the speed quizzing app and to Nigel and Graeme for providing the treats and nibbles.
Thank you all for coming and great to meet you Paul and Julie, better luck next time hey?

7 Goodgymers gathered this halloween eve to go for a walk/gentle jog to the memorial park and back.
Graeme and Claire set off on their walk whilst the rest of the Goodgym gang carried out the halloween special warm up, including some great thriller arms and Frankenstein hamstring kicks - ha! Following the warm up we started on our run to catch up with the walkers.
It was really busy out with lots of trick or treaters around Earlsdon. We kept looping back to the walkers, although they were actually pretty speedy so were never that far behind. They were also very easy to spot with Graeme's lit up pumpkin costume which actually looked like he had red shining boobs (gutted i didn't get a picture of this!)
Once we reached the park we turned back leaving Graeme and Nigel to walk Chris and Claire home then the Laura's and James headed back into town to make their way to the quiz.
Very enjoyable walk, run with great company, thank you all!
