Zoe and Craig were up bright and early to help set up - for potentially the last time - social distancing posts that have kept the market running as a one-way system between lockdowns. The sun came out in full spirit to greet us, though we forgot to snap a photo so credit to @surbitonfarmersmarket Instagram for the image!

Three early bird GGers caught the worm this morning! A debut mission for Craig, we kept our eyes off the pies and got straight into unloading and preparing the street dividers to keep the Market a socially distanced and orderly event. Tables set up and stalls almost ready for trading, we left the market for all of 30 minutes before returning for some local goodies! A great start to the weekend.

The market was all set up when we arrived and we were asked to man the foodbank collection and keep an eye on our end of the market.

We had some very generous donations with some lovely Christmas treats of panettone, selection boxes and tinned ham.

It was lovely to listen to the Christmas music from the guitarist and singer while collecting.

After we finished our shift we couldn’t resist a wander around the market and a sausage bap from one of our favourite stalls.

At just after 1pm yours truly had the honor of ringing the bell, to signal the end of the market.

Vendors started packing away their gazebos and what was left of their stock, which wasn't alot by the looks of things, and we helped with packing up the poles and chain which divided the up and down lanes.

Next market is on the 21st November.

It was fantastic to see Surbiton market back up and running again for the first time since February and the recent restrictions didn't put the locals off either as the whole of Kingston seemed to be out and about, supporting their local community whislt keeping safe with masks, hand sanitiser and following the one way system in place too. It's a strange world we live in these days but it'll take more than a global pandemic to stop the people of Surbiton getting their foccaia bread or award winning black hummus. GoodGym’s task were to run 'security' on both the entrance and exits and to (wo)man the foodbank donation table. Petra and Kate took on the table and Claire, Freya and I took guard at either end of the market. We soon had people queuing up to get in and to get their Saturday sausage breakfast bap, luckily there was one left for a hungry Claire to snaffle towards the end. Thankfully everyone was very understanding with the measures put in place and seemed very grateful for the explanations of which way to walk round the market.

The second half of our monthly visit to Surbiton Farmers' Market and a celebration of a 50th GOOD DEED milestone for Rob! It's always such a pleasure to run with you Rob and I'm so pleased we could be there to celebrate with you.

We demonstrated how efficient we have become with these monthly market missions and quickly got to work with the bumble bee barrier removal.

Barriers all taken down we moved on to offer our help to store holders, however it seems they were all keen to head off for the weekend and the majority of their packing was already complete! We used our remaining time on some PR chats with a local running group in Surbiton and hope to see them at a group run soon.

All that was left was to head off to the second half of our Kingston 1st Birthday celebrations at Victoria Recreation Ground where our red shirts attracted lots more PR attention (unfortunately it was when we were guiltily standing in the queue for the ice cream van!)
