The call went out on Sunday morning to provide 85 puddings by Tuesday morning! Could GoodGymers "rise" to this challenge?
They certainly didn't "knead" much encouragement and weren't at all "pud"-off!
The offers to create perfect puds soon started "rolling" in. Seven GoodGymers collected the ingredients they had available (not letting the lack of lockdown flour stop them) and produced some stunning sweets.
They ranged from Lily's and Teresa's crumbles, to Jo O'Leary's and Gina's fruity cakes. Hannah wrapped up some cute cookies and Tracey Coleman's oven worked overtime on "flantastic" foods. Helen topped up the puds with more cake and custard.
Stratton Juniors FC welcomed these "just desserts" and explained how they have been increasing the numbers of cooked meals for the local elderly and vulnerable people. They started off doing 20 meals but are now up to 85 meals, twice a week. They could not do this without the use of the Grange Community Centre kitchen, which would otherwise be unused at the moment. Whilst we were there, an army of volunteer drivers arrived and left to deliver the meals.
A total of 92 puddings were created. And not a "soggy bottom" in sight!! Thank you to all you brilliant bakers!
