Coning to the end of another great parkrun

Saturday 25th July

Written by Harriet Prior

Two Goodgymers volunteered at Fulbourn Hospital Parkrun. Catherine did a great job cheering on runners while marshalling. She then joined me and another volunteer to help with post run closedown, collecting up all the cones used to mark the course and rabbit holes. What a heroine! We rewarded ourselves with a nice hot drink and cheese scone and a chat with some of the other parkrunners. It was a lovely way to spend the morning.

Not to-o ke-en to be out of order

Saturday 27th June

Written by Harriet Prior

3 Goodgymers volunteered at Fulbourn Hospital Parkrun.

I was volunteer coordinator and was very lucky to have so many amazing volunteers signing up, which made my job nice and easy.

Catherine did an amazing job as tailwalker and we had a nice chatty walk bringing up the rear.

Scott had the challenging task of sorting out 123 tokens and making sure they were in the right order for next week's event. No mean feat, especially after completing a speedy parkrun.

We finished off the morning sitting out in the sun with a drink and a delicious cheese scone.

A vitamin D prescription - just what the doctor ordered!

Saturday 23rd May

Written by Caroline

This week, 2 members of GoodGym Cambridge headed to Fulbourn Hospital parkrun for volunteering duties 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Harriet and Caroline arrived on their bikes with unplanned synchronicity, and in plenty of time before the start to catch up over their various travels 🌎

Harriet blazed a trail as parkwalker while Caroline tried timekeeping for the first time. Plenty of sun was soaked up and the (other) Time Team worked smoothly with all going to plan! ⏱️

After the race was done, the pair stayed back to enjoy goodies from the cafe, a chat with the Fulbourn regulars and a bit more sun ☀️

A bird, a plane and parkrunners

Saturday 4th April

Mini eggs for volunteers this morning at Coldham's Common parkrun 🐣

Feeling motivated, I headed over to my favourite part of the common and excellent marshaling spot 'the trees'. Perfect not only for cheering on parkrunners and walkers, but also ideal for bird and plane spotting. Next to Cambridge airport, there were lots of light aircraft taking off and in amongst the sounds of the planes and my cheering was the distinct tapping of a woodpecker. All very exciting.

Over the other side of town, Harriet was Run Director at Fulbourn Hospital parkrun, ensuring all went smoothly. Nice one 🙌

Well done to all runners and walkers that took part this morning. Enjoy the long weekend ☀️

Full(bourn) bloom

Saturday 28th March

Spring had sprung at Fulbourn Hospital parkrun this morning, with the daffodils out and the sun shining 🌷

Caroline was marshaling and cheered 140 runners and walkers round the course, including Catherine, who then helped with post-event pack down.

Over the other side of the world, Harriet was adding another flag to her collection running parkrun in Japan! 🇯🇵

Tough Mudder

Saturday 28th February

Written by Harriet Prior

Cambridge Goodgymers put on their running shoes to volunteer and run or walk at Fulbourn Hospital Parkrun today. It was a very muddy morning but it was great to get out there and help make the parkrun happen.

Catherine did an amazing job marshalling, encouraging the runners and directing them safely on a slightly altered, slippery course. Caroline sprinted round and still had enough energy left to sort the tokens, ready for next week's event. Alexandra made sure no one was left behind, doing a fantastic job tailwalking. Harriet had a lovely parkwalk and then helped out with the post-event closedown. We relaxed after all this lovely activity with hot drinks and cakes in the cafe.
