On a very pleasant Monday evening , two GoodGymers headed off towards Byker in order to get fit, pick up some litter and deliver some GoodGym flyers.
Success was achieved in all three regards. A short, but undulating run to start with, followed by clearing Byker High Street and some of the surrounding streets of much of the litter. There must be a high proportion of smokers in the area as the sheer volume of cigarette ends were impossible to pick up, so we concentrated on larger items. The evening finished with delivering the GoodGym flyers on the boundary between Byker and Heaton.
The only failure on the day was Scott's litter picker, which had developed a crack in the handle. Scott managed to put it back together several times, but that litter picker has gone into retirement.

A satisfying Monday evening was spent picking litter around Heaton, after Heaton Pride at the weekend. It wasn't just GoodGymers tonight, there were people from Newcastle City Council and some Heaton Pride volunteers too.
We joined some of the people involved with Heaton Pride for a quick drink afterwards in The Last Resort, a small pub on Heaton Road.

The rain stopped just in time for four GoodGymers to head out towards Heaton from Stepney Bank Stables, armed with many hundreds of Heaton Pride leaflets, without getting wet.
The terraced streets of Heaton are perfect for delivering lots of leaflets quickly. The best part of 1,000 leaflets were delivered in an hour.
Please join Aimee to complete the job on Thursday.

The weather god were kind to GoodGym Newcastle tonight as the wind and rain that came before and after subsided as we cleared the litter after the Ouseburn Festival.
There were five bags full tonight, with probably the most unusual item picked up being a half full baby bottle.

On a balmy Monday evening six GoodGymers helped prepare Stepney Bank Stables for this weekend's Ouseburn Festival.
Louise undoubtedly worked the hardest, mopping the floor with cold water and no detergent. It did definitely look better afterwards than it did before! Scott rearranged the chaotic helmets, while put the dozens of pairs of boots into size order on their racks.
Meanwhile Eleanor, Aimee and Dan took the lead with transporting the horse-related books upstairs, then arranging them in a perfectly colour-coordinated way on the bookshelves.
Please visit the Ouseburn Festival at the weekend if you can, and we'll see you next Monday to pick up the litter that didn't end up in the local bins.
