So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen Alys!

Woking Report written by Woking runner

Adam, Alys, Anne, James, Katie and Sally-Anne met for this weekā€™s group run mission: litter-picking.

You will all agree that Alys is our littler-picker champion (among other super qualities)! So, for her last group run before travelling to Canada, we could not have chosen better. As usual, Alys excelled and led us to the areas requiring our skills the most. We managed to fill up several bags and our champion even picked up a shiny 5p coin.

It was lovely to see Sally-Anne on a short break from her studies. Sally-Anne is training for her second ā€œIron Womanā€ competitionā€¦ We are all in awe of you Sally-Anne.

James joined us despite his leg injury, which occurred last week when taking part in the Brutal in Holywell. He had not realised that it was his 150th good deed. Congratulations James!

When the litter picking was over, we all gathered in a local pub to wish Alys the very best for her stay in Canada. We will miss you Alys but are looking forward to reading your blog( no pressure)!

This coming Sunday will be Junior parkrun day and we hope you are able to volunteer to help them.

Next Wednesday we will meet to perform our cleaning duties at the Food Bank; please do come along as the saying goes: ā€œthe more, the merrierā€.

Happy running to everyone!

Knocking on Heavens Door

Woking Report written by Removed User

Last Night at GoodGym What a great turn out at GoodGym last night, everyone came in all shades of colours. Meeting at WWF carpark for a nice jog/run to Woodham Parish Church. The temperature outside has definitely made a turn and the wind was not on our side last night.

Arriving at the Parish Hall we were met by Adrian who quickly got us to work. We split into two teams - One working on the kitchen door, sanding and then giving it a coat of undercoat. While the other team squeezed into the foyer and started to turn a shade of white after having to sand the door frames and entrance. After the dust was hoovered up, it was time to give everything a coat of paint. Adam got a free hair dye and came out with highlights in his hair. Sally-Anne decided to do some finger painting instead and coated her hands with paint.

Once finished it made a great difference and really brightened up the entrance. It was time for a quick photo and a run back to the meeting point. I certainly was looking forward to getting warm and tucking into some warm food once home. Thank You to James and Josh for sending us pictures of your dinner during Nandos date night! Very much appreciated.

Next week Please meet at the Leisure Center and we are heading to the FoodBank.

Tonight's Group Run

A big welcome to Martin who joined us for his first group run experience, we hope to see you back at our future group run sessions. Tonight we had a great turn out and even Bodhi the dog dressed up in his bow tie for the special occasion of my 100th Good deed! We met at WWF carpark with everyone equipped with lights we were off to Brockhill Care Home. With Mark, Adam and Owen leading the way through Horsell. Our trusty back marker Anne was there, with a slight wonky knee but she managed to make the whole run there and back.

Once at Brockhill Care Home we were met by Wayne, another GG member and the lovely ladies who let us in at the care home, who are always so friendly! Tonight's task was to Clean and wipe down the dining rooms chairs and table, with such a great turn out, it wasn't long before it was time to head back. With a quick group photo before we left. The run back was definitely a social one, with members all have a catch up after weeks of not seeing each other. James clearly had his go fast hat on and was very chilled waiting for us to appear down the canal as he was stood finished!

If anyone is interested in some painful hills this Saturday, there will be a Hill's session on this Saturday morning at 8am - meeting at the maultway. See Facebook page for more details .

Next week

We are meeting at Woking Leisure Center and heading to Woodham Parish Church. Please remember your head torches, chest lights, hat light or what ever kind of lighting device you have!!

GG Woking run to Church

We would like to welcome a new member to our group run Sally , we hope you enjoyed your first GoodGym Woking experience and we didn't frighten you to much and you will be back for some more.

This weeks group run took place at all saints parish hall. We have been there a few times before to help revamp the hall. In the past we have painted and sanded the entrance hallway skirting boards and have also managed to sand and paint the entire hall skirting boards. This time we were on to door frames in the hall. As we had a good turn out we had Connor and myself outside ashing the windows.

112760

We had a little bit of an extra run due to our change of starting place which added an extra 1km each way. We managed a 7km run in total. With Helen meeting us there after running from the different direction and Wayne meeting us in the woods (sounds a little creepy).

We managed to complete our tasks - yet again! A big well done and thank you to everyone who came. We did find out that Connor cannot throw a stick in the right direction!

A big Good luck to Lou who is heading down to Dorset on Friday and will be taking part in White Star Running's East Farm Frolic. A 10km on the Saturday followed by a 12hr Frolic on the Sunday!!! Impressive!!!

Next Week

We are heading to Brockhill - who knows what they have planned for us!!
