Community Cape

Richard Horsted earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Richard completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Richard was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

I'm sorry I haven't a clue!

Worthing Report written by JULIA GLEESON

By George I think they've got it !

We really kept fitness and fun alive this week with Ricky's brilliant cryptic treasure hunt style challenge. 10 cryptic clues all based around central , east and west worthing meant it was both challenging but manageable and accessible for walkers, runners (and tourists too - maybe Old John could point us in the direction of the tourist information centre ha ha - I'm taking cover! )

Scores on the doors Bob !

In reverse (and of course the most important order ) the results were pretty close

Sue & Ricky 65 Nick & Julia 68 Jay & Katharine 81 Paul & John 83 Belinda & John 90

The prize for being first is that the winners organise next weeks challenge :) Thank you Mr and Mrs R. We will be excited to see what you have in store for us!

Massive shout out to Barbara and Gill who completed the Phoenix P 24 challenge where they ran 1.1 mile every hour on the hour. Absolute legends and between the two of them they have inspired others in the group to do the same challenge ( with a twist ) in October ( gulp ! )

have a great week everyone and look out for community missions coming your way.

Julia

The fanta sea fitness session

Worthing Report written by JULIA GLEESON

The fitness challenge Flop

Today we met up to discuss how much we all love the fitness element of GoodGym and don't want to see it disappear as the current proposed post Covid plans suggest.

How ironic then that no one managed to do the challenge this week! As Sue so charmingly put it, the group 'need a chum' to motivate each other and hence Worthing unwittingly, made their very own protest vote to save our group runs and fitness.

Belinda gets 50 points for running and half capturing herself with Hudson so I declare her the winner this week:)

The meeting was rather disjointed as my internet kept crashing so apolgies for the technical difficulties but, regardless of this I think you all enjoyed a chat :)

Many thanks for the support that so many of you are giving me and our group right now. Watch this space for community missions that will be loaded up this week

See you next week:)

Stay safe and well

GG crusaders on the trail for the holy grail

Worthing Report written by JULIA GLEESON

This weeks challenge was another outside one but this time one making use of post codes and clues.

I gave 10 local postcodes across east, central Worthing and Goring. Each road had a place of worship to be walked/run to and photographed.

At 2 of the churches ( St Botolph's and St Mary's) there was virtual holy grail to be found. The heavy clues to the grail were in previous run reports for tasks done at 2 of the churches. At St Botolph's we had unearthed a 15th century font together with meeting 2 GB athletes ( Katie and Afton ) At St Mary's the church holds a special place in my heart as Nick and I were married there, our 3 children all christened and confirmed there and my mum did the church flowers for over 20 years.

For anyone that missed the results John and Belinda got top marks with Jay and Katharine very close behind. Great work team ! It shows the power of combining love and brain power.

We are looking forward to Steve's nature trail challenge next week . Lets all try and support these challenges with as little or as much as you can do. It would be great to try and keep our group together and don't forget if you cant manage to get out for the session you are all welcome to join in for the social catch up Mondays at 6:45pm :)

See you all then

Have a great week

Julia xx

May the 4th be with you

Pick and mix fitness bingo

With the emphasis definitely on fun, a dirty dozen of us met up for our weekly virtual fix. Warm May 4th wishes were perfectly personified by Mr and Mrs R in their masks and Mr R brandishing his lightsaver .... ooh er matron

Fitness with a twist meant fitness bingo tonight.

Choosing even numbers between 2 ( one little duck) and 32 ( buckle my shoe) each number had a move attached to it. As I'm writing this I have already got ideas for next week....

In total we did 16 moves in around 30 minutes and the team barely knew they had done anything!

Next was Belinda's kettle boil challenge doing inchworms. Hopefully as she was so focused doing the move she didn't notice that when I started the kettle it wasn't turned on at the plug ( oops!!) Not a single complaint from Belinda but a growl grumble from John about buying me a more efficient kettle :)

Belinda kindly nominated Sue to do wall sits next week for her KBC which after all Sue's recent personal training sessions with me she didn't even blink at.

We rounded up the evening with drink and catch up chat which has become a really heart warming feature of the week.

I'm already looking forward to seeing all next week. Stay safe and remember we are 1 week closer to seeing each other again.

Sending lots of GG love and positivity

Julia xx

All for run and run for all

Worthing Report written by JULIA GLEESON

Relax and relay

Tonights session was entirely in honour of the London Marathon that should have taken place yesterday but has been delayed until October.

The 2.6 challenge inspired me to convert 2.6 into minutes and seconds to use this time parameter into a virtual relay marathon. The virtual baton was one person doing tricep dips for 2.36 minutes whilst the rest of the team did a different move. For example squats, press ups, lunges etc. Once the 2.36 minutes were up the tricep dips moved to the next person along the zoom line and the rest of us changed to a new move. This went on until the baton had been passed to everyone in the group and we completed our marathon relay.

We finished with Ann's kettle boil core side plank challenge which she completed in style without a single moan. We finished with an extended chat session which was really fun and enjoyable. Many thanks to Jay for todays photo of our spring inspired GG flowerbed :)

Lets keep the Monday night date in your diary.

See you all next week and stay safe and well.
