Do you need a bit more flexitime?
A few GoodGym members came together for a yoga practice.
yoga talk...
If you’re ready to add yoga to your workout routine or deepen your yoga practice in general, you may wonder how much time you need to spend on your mat to experience the physical and mental benefits.
Well, it depends. Studies show that a regular yoga practice can improve muscle strength, promote good posture, increase balance, and help flexibility.
It can also boost your immune system and reduce your risk of symptoms related to chronic health conditions. Check out the newest yoga workouts in the Aaptiv app here.
But whether you practice once in a blue moon or every single day, here’s what a slew of experts suggest for both beginners and established yogis.

It was a bit of a stretch!
A few GoodGym members came online to do some yoga.
yoga talk....
Let’s be honest: Running more isn’t always the best thing we can do for our bodies. As we build mileage, our hamstrings and calf muscles can grow taut while we ignore our core and other muscles. We start to believe more is always more, ignoring our body’s subtle (and not-so-subtle) complaints.
Lucky for us, yoga is a perfect complement to running. Everything that running tightens, yoga stretches. But yoga offers much more than just stretching.
“It’s about balance,” yoga instructor Sage Rountree
Rountree, an ultramarathoner, triathlete, and coach, as well as a yoga instructor, literally wrote the book on how yoga can help runners. Rountree writes about how yoga can help you improve your form, power and strength.
“If done well, yoga lets you see where the imbalances are in your body, and balance is key to preventing injuries,” she says. read more here https://www.fleetfeet.com/blog/how-yoga-for-runners-helps-you-find-balance-and-run-better

Yoganna improve your mind as well as your body.
A few goodgym members came together to do online yoga.
Studies have shown that activities that require you to think while moving, like Tai Chi, yoga, aerobics, Zumba, and choreographed dancing, are going to be the most beneficial for your brain. Another way is when you run or cycle look for new routes over varied terrain.
Thanks for coming, being active and doing good.

Yoganna improve with practice
A few Goodgym memeber met online for online yoga.
Practicing brief sessions of Hatha yoga and mindfulness meditation can significantly improve brain function and energy levels, according to study from the University of Waterloo. The study found that practicing just 25 minutes of Hatha yoga or mindfulness meditation per day can boost the brain’s executive functions, cognitive abilities linked to goal-directed behavior and the ability to control knee-jerk emotional responses, habitual thinking patterns and actions. “Hatha yoga and mindfulness meditation both focus the brain’s conscious processing power on a limited number of targets like breathing and posing, and also reduce processing of nonessential information,” said Peter Hall, associate professor in the School of Public Health & Health Systems. "These two functions might have some positive carryover effect in the near- term following the session, such that people are able to focusmore easily on what they choose to attend to in everyday life.” Thirty-one study participants completed 25 minutes of Hatha yoga, 25 minutes of mindfulness meditation, and 25 minutes of quiet reading (a control task) in randomized order. Following both the yoga and meditation activities, participants performed significantly better on executive function tasks compared to the reading task. “This finding suggests that there may be something special about meditation— as opposed to the physical posing— that carries a lot of the cognitive benefits of yoga,” said Kimberley Luu, lead author on the paper. The study also found that mindfulness meditation and Hatha yoga were both effective for improving energy levels, but Hatha yoga had significantly more powerful effects than meditation alone.

Yoga is a bridge over troubled times.
A few GG memebers gathered online to do various yoga poses including a series of bridges.
Bridge pose yoga helps to relieve the tired back quickly. Bridge pose benefits your chest, spine and neck and also helps to give a nice stretch to these parts of your body. Bridge pose helps to reduce anxiety, depression, and stress and calms the brain.
