Appl-y ever after!

Sat 25 Sep
Report written by Laura P

5 Goodgymers went to Team Springboard to help out a range of tasks on the allotment. It was a surprisingly warm day, so after some weeding mare’s tail from around the remaining courgette plants we retreated into the shade of the apple trees to pick up fallen fruit and admire the beautiful shiny apples. We also had a cup of tea and a biscuit and a chat with some of the regular volunteers. Special thanks to Nigel for making another pallet bench for the allotment visitors.

We always have a fab afternoon at Team Springboard- looking forward to visiting again soon!

Common people

Tue 31 Aug
Report written by Liz Pharoah

On Tuesday 31st August, Five members of GoodGym Coventry set out to litter pick along the banks if the River Sherbourne.

Unfortunately, the route we were taking was a main route into town and as a result was covered in lots of litter. There was especially a lot of litter on Whitley Common- hence the title.

All in all, 4 bags of litter were collected.

For our return to the start, we found the most undulating route to practise our running up hills.

Fif-tree

Sat 28 Aug
Report written by Laura P

Two GoodGymers joined Friends of Nauls Mill Park to support activities on their stall at the ‘Beneath the Trees’ event, one of the Coventry city of culture events. One of the activities was a poet-tree, with local people adding memories of the park. There was also live music, story telling under the trees, yoga, crafts and a yellow brick road!!

Congratulations to Katherine for 50 GoodGym tasks (and apologies for the report pun!) here’s to many, many more!

Improve the local environment for wildlife

Welcome to GoodGym Coventry! We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every week to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations and projects in our area.

The Task:

We are supporting Sherbourne Valley living landscape by taking care of the paths from Whitley towards Bagington.

The Run/walk:

GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities and it is often possible to walk to the task if you would prefer. We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is.

(C)Hard times.

Sat 7 Aug
Report written by Liz Pharoah

On a blustery Saturday afternoon, 9 GoodGym Coventry members met and ran 3km to support Team Springboard at their allotment.

It was great to meet Rob on first group run as well as to see familiar faces as well Max on a flying visit and Nigel and Katherine.

Esther had plenty of jobs for us, harvesting potatoes, weeding, moving logs and creating benches. We also saw the largest chard ever!

It is always a pleasure to support Team Springboard and we all learn so much from these sessions.
