Light bulb moment

Lambeth Report written by Frances Collier-Wright

The Windmill team were grateful as ever to have us join them for their gardening session. After a small pause while the bulb types were identified we quickly got stuck in to planting a couple of rows of daffodils along the fence, using the snazzy clod removing tools and a few trowels to get out the trickier stones. The damp soil was a breeding ground for plump happy worms, so we took great care to cut round them as we went. Soon we had a couple of rows of Daffs against the fence and a little loop of different bulbs around the tree too. Meanwhile, Nathan was hard at work at the other side of the garden getting to grips with the scyth and making quick work of cutting back the plants - an impressive before and after task. We'll no doubt see them all again soon, and we'll have to schedule a spring visit to reap the rewards of the bulb display.

Jump-ing for joy at completing my first community mission at the weekend!!

Wandsworth Report written by Theresa Joseph (she/her)

The cause is real and the donations were even more real! Tons and tons of donations, serving these Afghan refugees when they need it most. C4C recycle hub is based at Recycle 54 in South Wimbledon/ Colliers Wood area and volunteers who attend check and organise the clothing received ensuring that the donations are of the best possible quality, clean and ready to wear.

The project is open all year round and is the first port of call for many displaced communities upon their arrival in the UK, when being placed in South London. Seema the C4C project coordinator said "Some people arrive in literally the clothes on their back" when explaining the importance of this task as it was an essential part of their resettling process.

The work continues and the donations keep coming in so more volunteers are needed to help organise the clothing so that it can be presented in a dignified manner. I, along with Isla from GoodGym and other volunteers from the C4C network, received a warm welcome from Seema and her daughter Iliana ( taking the picture) and you are invited to come along to support the brilliant work that is of massive benefit to those that are in need.
