A cone by the river

Sat 27 Mar
Report written by Fiona

Lots of us had a good start to our saturdays doing some plogging in the spring sunshine.

There was plenty rubbish to be found, including ice cream wrappers and vodka on Bournemouth beach (people obviously living life more fully down south) and lots of bottle caps in Charlton...but no bottles?!

Clear up at River Gardens, riverside, & Thames beach...got carried away & did about 4 hours and met interested passerbys asking about Goodgym/volunteering. Found a cone!

Jacqui and Sally litter picked in Brixton, where there was sadly lots of rubbish - cans, bottles, food packaging and face masks.

Thank you everyone for making your places that much nicer!

Helping out the Maryon Park Community Garden!

Sat 1 May 10:00 am
The Old Nursery, Maryon Park, Maryon Road , Charlton, London, SE7 8DH
Maintaining this lovely garden for local residents to enjoy

The Maryon Park Community Garden is a voluntary community project providing raised growing beds for local people. The garden features an orchard, wild flower bank, art installation, a children's area, a poly tunnel and a greenhouse.

It can be a bit tricky to find the garden so here's the Community Garden mobile number if you need it: 0777 915 9387. Make sure you go to Maryon Park rather than Maryon Wilson Park and look for the park-keeper's house!

Please bring your own gloves. We'll be clearing and seeding wild flowers on the terraced bank this week!

Reggie's community garden part 1

Sat 13 Mar
Report written by Natalie Tremlett

GoodGymmers in Greenwich were tasked with litter picking today, which coincided with the our first day of our community garden project. The area we are converting has long been a wasteland so we had to clear the rubbish that was layered through the overgrown grass and weeds before turning the soil. We made a great start even though the weather did not stay in our favour!

GoodGymmers across the UK joined in, battling the winds to clear up our local areas. The strangest items we found were a label for a shark teeth grinder, a bike stopper, a red nose day nose and some very muddy tin-snips.

Thank you everyone!
