It was a bit of a stretch!

Barnet Report written by Paul Salman

A few GoodGym members came online to do some yoga.

yoga talk....

Let’s be honest: Running more isn’t always the best thing we can do for our bodies. As we build mileage, our hamstrings and calf muscles can grow taut while we ignore our core and other muscles. We start to believe more is always more, ignoring our body’s subtle (and not-so-subtle) complaints.

Lucky for us, yoga is a perfect complement to running. Everything that running tightens, yoga stretches. But yoga offers much more than just stretching.

“It’s about balance,” yoga instructor Sage Rountree

Rountree, an ultramarathoner, triathlete, and coach, as well as a yoga instructor, literally wrote the book on how yoga can help runners. Rountree writes about how yoga can help you improve your form, power and strength.

“If done well, yoga lets you see where the imbalances are in your body, and balance is key to preventing injuries,” she says. read more here https://www.fleetfeet.com/blog/how-yoga-for-runners-helps-you-find-balance-and-run-better

Wind Molehill Farm

Bristol Report written by Bristol runner

A chilly but bright morning welcomed the 6 of us to Windmill Hill City Farm for a task that gave us a good workout.

Our host Beth greeted us and led us to one of the paths around the farm that they are hoping to recover with hardcore before the farm reopens to the public.

Our job was to continue removing the packed down soil from the path and deposit this in the sheep pen which the path borders.

Using spades/shovels, some of the soil rather satisfyingly lifted up in slices whereas other parts were harder to break up.

Once on the spade it was then up and over the shoulder into the sheep pen in a nice flowing movement - thanks to Sarah for kindly demonstrating this technique whilst Russ was also showing us some stretching cum yoga cum meditation moves to break up the work a bit.

An hour later we were tired but pleased with our efforts, which rather resembled a field of molehills and with that Alexandra had soon nailed the pun for the task!

Eve Payne earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Eve completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Eve was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Frosty Friday Farm Fun

Bristol Report written by Bristol runner

This morning was quite a frosty one but 6 goodgym runners braved the cold and run over to Windmill Hill City Farm for another morning burst of fun. Our task was simple (clearing weeds, brushing, raking leaves) but it really required some some skills getting the job done on the icy pavement. Not to mention the numb fingers and cold toes...

Kudos to Jade, Bekki and Daisy who attended this early morning task at the farm not once, but twice this week! It was also amazing to welcome Eve back at GoodGym after a long (winter?)break.

Great job everyone and apologies for not having taken any pics (Mel will hopefully add some later)!
