Area Activator for GoodGym Waltham Forest
- TIME FLEXIBLE TASK *
We need your strong legs and nimble hands.
RKF food bank will be taking collections at their centre in Greenleaf Road.
Our own Nerys has kindly offered to be the pick up point for flyers. Sign up to the event and she'll send you the location, which is near Walthamstow Central Station.
The timing is flexible as few of us are out much these days. Be sure to coordinate with Nerys.
Task will stay open until all the flyers are gone.
Go go GoodGym WF!!
Well, folks, we've been here before stuck without community missions - sadly we can't meet as a group to do good so instead you're encouraged to do some River Lea appreciation by doing one or all of the following this weekend:
Run/walk 5k+ alongside River Lea in Waltham Forest (and elsewhere - it goes a long way you know) and take a photo of it's beautiful, probably flooded in places, glory! Please note that some parts of it are VERY muddy and might be flooded so be prepared to turn around.
Run/walk/cycle 5k+ to the river and back if you don't live in the east of the borough. Selfie please as evidence of reaching the river :)
Cycle/Run alongside river on roads the length of it in Waltham Forest - this will involve some planning.... Photos of the route please!
You have Saturday or Sunday to do it - please get out there, clock up some miles, enjoy nature and stay motivated!
Here's a little random reading material on the River Lea

Redbridge will be picking up the baton for (not) parkrun on Saturday 30th January! Everyone is very welcome to join!
And remember to follow all Covid rules and guidelines on your run, be safe, be socially-distanced and keep moving!
GoodGym (not)parkrun will be hosted by a different GoodGym area each week during lockdown and is aiming to get everyone involved in the January Challenge 2021, get fit and active in your local community and carry forward the parkrun spirit, whilst following Covid rules of course!
You can complete your 5K any time on Saturday and submit your time, by midnight on Saturday, using the form
A big shout out to Melanie Young @ GoodGym Bristol (aka tech savvy whizz kid) for creating the results form and who will put the results together for our (not) parkrun events.
To let her know your email address and other useful information, there's a one-off registration form to complete. You can find this here.
If you'd like a photo to be included in the run report, please take a selfie and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
So, here we go again! A New Year and another Lockdown! Well, there is no reason to feel down. We have a great Lockdown Bingo for you all to complete, with prizes for the top three first to complete!
This time, our Bingo game is all about distance, so that we can add some nice miles to the January Challenge.
All you got to do is make sure your Strava is linked to your GG profile. Email me on klara@goodgym or WhatsApp me on 07795064906 to get the Bingo sheet sent to you. Then get your trainers on and start ticking of the challenges! You got up till January 31st to do this.
Send me a picture or two if you are happy for them to be part of the report at the end!
David has just logged their first 5k with GoodGym. David has joined the ranks of Athletes like Tirunesh Dibaba - running gracefully over 5000 metres. Show David some love.
