Weeding Ravensknowle Memorial Garden

With spring now most definitely springing the weeds in Ravensknowle Memorial Garden are also making their presence felt. So GoodGym are visiting once again to help ensure the memorial garden is looking memorable for all the right reasons.
Don't forget your gardening gloves and do-good motivation for an hour's worth of socially distanced hard labour. If you are able to walk, run or cycle to this Community Mission please do so.

David just completed a six month streak of doing missions. That’s so many bags of garden rubbish cleared and jobs done to help someone out and put a smile on their face. Give David a cheer to encourage them to keep up the good work.

When GoodGym have a job to do they always stick to the task. And tonight's Community Mission was to shift sticks and tidy twigs from the churchyard at Christ Church Moldgreen. Following the removal of a number of trees there was quite a volume of woody debris that needed clearing up, so Kati Law, Ben Godfrey, David Bilton, Tom and myself set about tidying.
Forty-five minutes later all the three available wheelie bins were filled and whilst not all the sticks were shifted the site certainly looked a whole lot better. There was even time for a little creative stick sculpture.

Growing Communities by Getting Busy on their Vegetable Plot

Growing Communities is all about building connections between people and the land through growing vegetables, plants and trees. Their site off Parkwood Road in Golcar is being cultivated to produce vegetables which are used by other local people and community organisations.
GoodGym helped last year digging over the potato beds and now we are returning to help plant the new crop! A great workout for a Sunday morning! So get your gardening gloves on and run, walk or ride over to Golcar to do yet another good job in our local community,

Graveyard Gardening

Our friends at Christ Church in Moldgreen have another task for us in their churchyard. A huge overgrowed area behind the church has recently been professionally cleared, apparently one hedge was so rampant it was encroaching on the church roof! However the work has resulted in loads of sticks and other small debris being left on the ground making the area look untidy, blocking draining cahnnels and detracting from the good work already done.
GoodGym's mission will be to sweep up the sticks and rake up the rest of the rubbish to leave the churchyard looking clean and tidy once again. So if you fancy a bit of graveyard gardening, get signed up, grab your gardening gloves and mosey on over to Moldgreen next Tuesday. Please run, walk or cycle there if you possibly can.
As with all all Community Missions currently this task is limited to six GoodGymmers and will take place in line with the current social distancing guidelines.

Graveyard Gardening at Christ Church Moldgreen

Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.
Our friends at Christ Church Moldgreen need GoodGym's assistance again. Quite a few of the elderly members of the congregation who usually look after the churchyard are shielding due to Covid and have not ben able to maintain the gardens. This means there are various shrubs, plants and weeds in danger of getting out of hand again.
Hence GoodGym have been called upon to help tidy the churchyard, all tools will be provided you simply need to bring your gloves, headtorches and enthusiasm. There'll be plenty of digging, weeding, cutting, raking and sweeping to keep us entertained for an hour.
