Off to a running start

Wed 1 Dec
Report written by Alys Penfold

Adam, Alys, Holly and Rebecca were back at Woking foodbank at The Lighthouse for an early December clean-up.

Like before, we all quickly slipped into our roles of sweeping, hoovering and mopping to get the floor spick and span.

We were done in record time, so went for a 15 minute circular run through Woking Park, where we said arrivederci to Rebecca who head home as the rest of us head to a local haunt for a milkshake and a beer. “A nice way to finish the task” as quoted by Adam!

It also helped us get our first kms in towards the Run Up To Christmas challenge!

Next week we’ll be litter picking at Brookwood Farm - do join us and remember #bebrightbeseen with hi vis and/or lights.

Watch those icy puddles, chill-dren!

Sun 28 Nov
Report written by Alys Penfold

Seven of us turned out on a very cold morning at junior parkrun with temperatures of -1! All to support 55 brave junior parkrunners.

It was great to see Maya and Andy for the first time in a while - welcome back both!

Rebecca did a great job in her first go as a tail walker, prepared with a hot drink in hand and skilled enough to not spill any when she made to run with it a few times...

Extra kudos to James who missed his race in dedication to seeing the last kid round.

junior parkrun takes place every Sunday at 9am and always need helpers, so do volunteer when you can. All they need is an hour of your time :)

Chilly Park Run…🥶

Sun 21 Nov
Report written by Wayne

Junior Park Park.....

8 GG Woking members carried out volunteering duties on this bright but chilly morning. It was great to see Liam back at the junior park run. Rich & Victoria were back marshaling after their successful roles as race directors last weekend. James was back on official time keeping duties, and showing others how the role is carried out. Alys took on the role as the tail walker, but there was more running than walking.

Wednesday we are at Brookwood Station so sign up if you can.
