I run for my mental health. I am easily distracted by cats and I love peanut butter, wild swimming and reading.
The theme of tonight's task was brushing! Some of the group were sweeping up leaves (broom), others were removing other debris (dustpan and brush) and the rest of the crew treated the remaining woodwork (paintbrush).
It was great to take a step back and look at the results of our efforts. The outdoor space is looking brilliant! We all opted for the shorter route back to Queen Square, chatting as we went and deciding what to have for dinner.
It's Tuesday so it's a group run, meeting in (and returning to) Queen Square and leaving there at 6.30
As it's the first Tuesday of the month, we'll be reinstating GoodGym Eats, too - here's this month's listing.
It's difficult getting confirmations at the moment but we'll definitely be doing something for our community and having a good old natter at the same time.
This is a group run - we’ll be running or walking from Queen Square to the task, and back again afterwards
We’re going to be painting outside, weather permitting - remember your mask in case we get moved indoors! And bring your own gloves if you're wanting to wear some.
We may get to paint the top of the roof of the pergola - what could possibly go wrong?!
GoodGym Eats are Back!
Pre-pandemic times at GoodGym Bristol we used to go out for a meal together after GoodGym on the first Tuesday of the month. We're going to get back to this. It's a great chance to have a proper chat with other GoodGymmers whether you are new or a regular and hopefully have some tasty food.
I have currently booked the table for 20 people but I'm sure I can expand this if there are more people interested.
Three Brothers Burgers is very close to Queen Square. They have lots of tasty burgers with veggie/vegan options. Here’s the menu. Hope to see you there!
(We each pay for what we ate/drank rather than splitting the bill so you can keep it cheap/push the boat out (not literally, please) as suits your hunger and bank balance)
On a super sunny evening we ran to St Werberghs community garden to help with a range of tasks (once we got there with my dodgy Google map reading!) - clearing weed and brambles from the pond area, removing bind weed anywhere we found it, giving the grass on the path a hair cut and sweeping up the compost area. It was great to natter whilst we worked and I was gutted I couldn't run with the bucket full of grass I'd cleared..my guinea pigs would have loved it!
After a quick pic by the rooster we headed back to queen square before some of us dashed off to get home for dinner and others heading to the bar for a well deserved pint ☺
We'll be running to St Werburgh's Community Gardens to sweep, weed, plant and generally tidy.
There’s also a group heading to nearby St Werburgh’s Community Centre to tidy and weed there.
We'll meet at 6.20 in Queen Square, leaving at 6.30 please remember we don’t have use of lockers or loos before the run but some of us do go for a drink at Club Haus, Workout on Welsh Back when we’ve finished stretching.
We had a fantastic morning helping at Mr and Mrs P's wildlife area. Our task was to clear back the outter fence space ready for the bluebells and try not to be distracted by the adorable Alfie who reguarly wanted you to throw a ball for him!
Jason "60,000 steps in a day" Thorne was tasked with all wheelbarrow moving to help towards his mega target. It was really lovely to catch up with old and new friends and we felt like we made a big difference to the space in a hour.
Refreshed with tea, kit kits and way too many pork pies - we headed on our merry way. Have you sat down yet Jason?!
It was a big surprise to have cake BEFORE a task but we were very happy to give it a go at the Southville Centre outdoor space , courtesy of BS3 Community task owner Hugh. Why? Because it was Area Activator Melanie's birthday which led to an entertaining Covid-secure candle extinguishing whilst wearing the GoodGym Bristol "Happy Birthday" alice band.
Talking of Alice, we FINALLY had the celebration and presentation of Alice D's brilliant 200 shirt, designed by Matt(erhorn) who was wearing his Lakeland 100 finisher tshirt.
In between there was sweeping, weeding, painting and a lot of chat and fun - perfect GoodGymming.
