Help deliver leaflets to spread the work about an awesome community garden!

Sat 12 Feb 10:30 am
Hillfields Park, Thicket Ave, Bristol , BS16 4EH
Help a fantastic resource reach more people

Come and help me deliver leaflets around Hillfields about a fantastic community garden.

The park is 1.8 miles from Eastville park so the perfect way to get in a good deed after parkrun. You could even make it a double deed day by then heading over to the Bedminster lantern parade task.

Many people haven't heard of the Hillfields community garden and delivering leaflets will help the group reach more marginalised groups. They are keen to reach the isolated people in Hillfields and this leaflet drop will help them to do that. The leaflet contains the details for a survey, this survey will help them shape the plans for the garden. They want to encourage the local community to feel involved and take ownership over this shared space.

Celtic Christmas Trail Races

Sat 18 Dec 08:00 am
Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taff, CF44 7RG
One last race before Christmas, including free mince pie!

It's time to do a last christmas run before going and eating and drinking too much over Christmas and New Year, so time to make a pre-emptive strike on the christmas binge!

We are going to do the lovely Celtic Trail Races over in the bit between Swansea and the Brecon Beacons, ending at Aberdare in "the valleys".

Fancy Dress is mandatory, (Christmas theme recommended!)

This race is a bit remote so make sure you can get to the finish, and then book the coach to the start (or try and workout some lift sharing logistics)

The medal looks cool too!

Race Info

The Celtic Trail Races are three exciting trail running races following the old high level route the 'Coed Morgannwg Way'.

The Coed Morgannwg way is a dramatic route following ancient tracks of Celtic origin, with amazing views across the Brecon Beacons, The Black Mountain, South Wales Valleys, and South Wales Coast . The route goes through woodlands, pastures, moorland and mountainsides. It is a fast, fun, runnable route following some of Wales hidden trails.

There are 3 race distances to choose from-

  • The Celtic Ultra is a 32 mile linear route from Margam to Dare Valley County Park.

  • The Celtic Trail 20 Race is a 20 mile linear route from Afon Argoed Forest to Dare Valley County Park.

  • The Celtic Trail Half Marathon is a 13 mile linear route from Resolven to Dare Valley Park.

All courses are FULLY MARKED.

A lick of paint and no kicking the bucket

Thu 14 Oct
Report written by Alice Dalrymple

Roz and I had a lovely evening helping Mrs S with her garden bench which needed a new coat of paint. She was very organised and had everything we needed to get going as soon as we arrived.

Despite essentially covering all of our running gear in it..we still managed to get good coverage of paint on the bench whilst having a natter with Mrs S.

We also managed not to knock over the bucket of paint which was a miracle in itself.

Before we left we took some rubbish out to the bin and then headed home. Mrs S was really grateful for our help :)

Paint no brush we didn't use

Tue 14 Sep
Report written by Alice Dalrymple

It was a lovely evening to be at the Southville centre, with some of us opting to follow Alice D on a longer route around the harbour on our way and some following Maria on the direct route.

The theme of tonight's task was brushing! Some of the group were sweeping up leaves (broom), others were removing other debris (dustpan and brush) and the rest of the crew treated the remaining woodwork (paintbrush).

It was great to take a step back and look at the results of our efforts. The outdoor space is looking brilliant! We all opted for the shorter route back to Queen Square, chatting as we went and deciding what to have for dinner.

It was wonderful to have Hilary join us from GG London. Huge congratulations to Maria who recently smashed the Green boy ultra marathon :)
