Lewisham’s litter picking duo, Adi and Paul, were in action again this weekend. Adi not finding too much Halloween and related rubbish in Sydenham’s Mayow Park but did find it looking attractive in its autumnal best.
Paul found lots of muddy rubbish brought down with recent high waters on the Ravensbourne in Deptford. A paddling of mallards was also seen.

There was a two pronged attack on Lewisham litter - Adi in the autumn colours of Mayow Psrk in Sydenham, Paul in Deptford.
Paul had expected a lot more litter this week along the Ravensbourne in Brookmill Park as there had been heavy rain a couple of times and the banks will have overflown. Oddly the high flows had been and gone but hadn’t left much rubbish behind. There were the usual beer cans and takeaway wrappers plus a sodden cushion which was dragged up to a bin. There was a lot of wildlife too - the pair of herons, a couple of Egyptian geese, lots of mallards, some talkative crows. Plus the return of two young foxes, that he hadn’t seen for a month or two one of which tried to follow him to his next mission.

There was a two pronged attack on litter in Lewisham. Adi was braving the wind on the fringe of Storm Amy on Saturday morning in Sydenham’s Mayow Park, where there were lost toys, broken branches, but not vast amounts of litter. Paul braved the rain the day before along the Ravensbourne in Deptford, he had a ‘helper’ - Milo a very disobedient dog who through being close to the river was more fun than staying with his humans. There were a couple of bags for life full of litter collected.
