Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Greenwich runner
On a sunny spring morning, a couple of keen GoodGym-ers met opposite the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to help out the Friends of Woolwich Common, who organise regular community litter picks to keep this beautiful open space clear from rubbish.
FoWC kindly supplied us with everything we needed for the task: black bin bags, bin bag holders (which only took us 5 minutes to work out how to use...) and litter pickers. Once we were all kitted out, we picked a direction to head and got underway.
After an hour of wandering the common in the sunshine both of our bin bags were full, thanks to stumbling across the abandoned remnants of several picnics and barbeques! So we headed back to the meeting point to hand over our loot and return our borrowed kit.
It's great to see how much cleaner the common looked by the time we had finished, so well done to all involved! Note this is a recurring task on the last Sunday of each month at 11am, so do come along if you are free next time.
We are a group of volunteers seeking to protect, preserve and campaign for Woolwich Common, a large green space in the Royal Borough in Greenwich, London.
