Who took my chair?

Wednesday night and we all met in Leisure World. As usual I had forgotten to charge the lantern, but as its a wind up, there was something to keep me occupied whilst waiting for runners to arrive. Once Bob arrived, he took over, though, until he wound it so fast that the plastic melted...

We welcomed Ella to her first group run with us having recently moved to Colchester and look forward to welcoming her back for future runs.

Despite begging with various charities and zone wardens at Colchester Borough Council this week, I was unable to find a task, but as it's World Rivers Day next week, we fell back on our trusty litter picking for Rivercare. The plan was to do the Skatepark, but when we got there, we found it was heaving with people actually using the skatepark (certainly the first time we've witnessed that on one of our group run tasks), so instead we did that section of the riverside footpath from the housing estate to the outdoor gym.

As always, we had some interesting finds, which included a shopping trolley handle from The Range, a shopping basket from Aldi, a football, and a chair.

We collected all the rubbish up and dutifully dumped it before heading to our 'track' to do some 400s. And no easing off for people here. We were only doing 2 so no need to save anything. I wanted runners to be completely spent by the end of their first rep so that they needed a decent amount of recovery time. And I have to say that everyout did this brilliantly - everyone put in 110% effort and I was really glad to see that.

We sauntered back to LeisureWorld for a bit of a stretch and discussed the possibility of another social, which we determined would be on Wednesday 4th October.
