Wheely well weeded saplings

1 GoodGymer made their way to help the Friends of Cator and Alexandra Parks in Bromley.

So many weeds choking recently-planted saplings in Alexandra Recreation Ground… we pulled out 10 wheelbarrow loads of catchweed and bindweed, along a 50 metre length of the new hedgerow. The before and after photos show how badly this effort was needed! Now the saplings (there are 700 in total) can get the light and nutrients they need for their springtime growth spurt. We took care to leave as much alkanet as possible, as it’s flowering at the moment so good for pollinators.
