This was an exciting new task with Ringcross Community Centre- based near Caledonian Park. A few of our Goodgymmers have helped with one-off cycle deliveries and food bank collections over the past few months (Kike A and the team from Islington Cycling Club have been instrumental in setting this up), but this was the first time we set up a cycling specific community mission.

By the time Trainer Simon arrived at the centre, new starter Adrian, Kathleen, David and Steve were already loading their backpacks and bike panniers with supplies for local families. The Ringcross Food Bank offer full shopping baskets of essentials for up to 70 families every week, with 26 households receiving food via bike transit and delivery van on this particular day.

Each cyclist received an address and a number, and set off to an Islington location (within 2 miles of the hub) to safely drop off the supplies. 2 drop offs per cyclist fir this first trial run, as the bags can get quite heavy!

Lindsay, the coordinator for the food bank was really grateful for our contribution- quite a few delivery drivers could no longer assist with the project, and we proved that a team of organised cyclists can not only complete the task, but do it in almost half the time!

Honestly, well done folks. You did a wonderful job, and we can't wait to post more Ringcross Community Centre opportunities for cycling Goodgymmers soon!
