Weeding under pressure!

12 runners ran 7km to help Abbeyfield of Westbourne

Well summer heat returned this evening as the gang gathered at Flirt Cafe in Bournemouth. A big welcome back to Sophie and newcomers Jodie and Ellie. You were awesome!

A quick briefing and warm up , pandiculation.....don't forget the pandicualtion! Then we were off! A lovely summers evening swept us through to the pier and along the prom. We then approached our first(and only!) incline to give us a challenge and blow the cobwebs out.... gravity is your friend! Hill tackled, we sped towards Abbeyfield of Westbourne.

Westbourne House provides independent accommodation for the active elderly and this includes meals; room cleaning and encouraging social interaction amongst residents. They needed a hand with some gardening so GoodGym was happy to help! Daryl got to grips with the pressure washer and seemed only too happy blasting away the dirt and grime from the paving ....although the said dirt seemed to cling to his (thankfully) black socks! The rest of the gang dived into the bushes to clear Ivy , weeds and leaves from around the plantings. Ellie , Jodie and Andrea soon had the bedding looking shipshape while Neil and Sophie were dab hands with a broom! Dan, Ross and Caprice worked hard to get as much done as possible while Maria and Abi went to the back garden to make a start on the large bedding area there ....we will return soon to finish the job.....!

Time up and we said our goodbyes to lovely Jilly and headed back to Flirt via Westbourne town and the shaded Bournemouth Gardens.

Awesome effort by everyone.....well done and I will see you all next week for a starter session with rounders game......bring your non-runnner friends! :)
